2017 SUMMER CAMPS
We are excited to announce our 2017 Summer Camps!
SPKids Summer Camps offer options for preschoolers and elementary students to explore art, music, athletics and academics! Campers will be exposed to the truths of God’s Word while they learn, play, explore and make news friends.
We believe that children are whole persons created in the image of God. Our staff is intentional about building relationships with our children and their families. It is our vision that each child is known and loved.
SUNDAY AT SPKIDS
Every Sunday morning, kids get to hear the transformative truth of God’s Word in their SPKids classroom. Precious babies and toddlers, energetic preschoolers and inquisitive elementary students all have a place to develop relationships and grow their faith in Jesus.
Nursery: 0 – 24 months
Preschool: 2 – 5 years
Elementary: Kindergarten – 5th Grade
HOW TO REGISTER AND CHECK-IN
After you enter the front doors, stop at our SPKids Welcome Desk on the left. You will be greeted by an SPKids team member who will help you create a KidCheck account, print nametags for your children and find their classrooms.
The registration and check-in process is important for the safety of your children and to help us efficiently keep everyone organized.
- Registration: The first time you visit, your family will be registered at the SPKids Welcome Desk in front atrium. You will need to provide contact information, birthdates and/or grades for each child.
- Class Assignment: We’ll then assign your children to the appropriate classrooms based on birthdates and grades.
- Attendance: After your first visit and family registration, your family can begin checking in at any computer KidCheck station. You may login using the telephone number that you provided during registration or key tag with your unique ID number. Each time you check-in using the computers, your attendance will be taken and recorded.
Our nursery rooms provide a safe and loving environment for infants, babies and toddlers up to 24 months old. Each week our caregivers show these precious children God’s love by providing a safe place for them to stay and learn while their parents attend services or volunteer elsewhere.
HAVING A BABY/ADOPTING?
Congratulations! We want to share in your joy during this special time and serve you family as your welcome your new addition. Please let us know that you are expecting by filling out our online form or contacting Mary Tomlin.
Our Preschool (ages 2 through pre-kindergarten) experience is a fun and interactive morning which begins with their very own Kid’s Worship in the WhereHouse. We sing, we dance, we pray! In their classrooms, the kids engage in table activities, snacks, crafts and often a little time on the playground. We use an exciting curriculum called Gospel Project, beautifully designed to connect God’s big story with all the stories of the Bible, and with our lives today.
The purpose of this ministry is to partner with parents in nurturing the spiritual foundations of children. Preschoolers take home Gospel Project cards to help families continue interacting about these truths in ways that are fun and simple. And, since all of our classrooms learn the same lesson in age-appropriate form, preschoolers can interact with big brothers and sisters about the Sunday lesson each week. It is our aim to equip families to learn and live Jesus-centered lives and to help each family impart these truths to their children.
Our Elementary children (kindergarten through 5th grade) learn biblical truths in a classroom environment using our Gospel Project Curriculum. We want to help these children find a passion to serve and follow Jesus.
We divide our time with the students three ways:
- Kindergarden and first graders will attend our Kid’s Worship in the WhereHouse. This is a fun opportunity for these young children to sing and dance with their peers while learning to worship Jesus.
- Second through fifth grade students attend worship in the sanctuary with their parents. After worship is over, they will be prayed for and dismissed to their classrooms
Our elementary classroom teachers lead our students in discussion and activities as we use the Gospel Project to walk through the Bible in chronological order for a three-year period. This exciting resource shows how Jesus fits into the entire Gospel story – creation to eternity! And where each one of us fits in, too. This format ensures that no matter where a student jumps in, they won’t miss a thing!
This is a unique opportunity for students to interact and experience the Gospel in new ways. Our large group leader brings the Bible to life using creativity, props, animation, song and video to present the story in a way kids have never seen it before!
Brooklynn and her husband Chris have been married for 10 years and settled in Tennessee after spending the first half of their marriage exploring the Pacific Northwest. When their first daughter came along they ventured to Nashville and found that this city and Southpointe Church quickly stole their hearts. They have two amazing daughters, Esther and Emmaline. Brooklynn has a BA in Studio Art and completed the Biblical Studies program at the Torchbearer Bible School in Europe. She has several years teaching experience in art and outdoor classrooms. She loves the mountains, traveling, making art, spicy food and having a house full of friends. SPKids has become part of the way Brooklynn lives out her passion to equip children and families to cultivate deep roots in the Gospel of Christ.
God is at work in SPKids, and there are a variety of ways for you to serve here.
To help steward the blessing of so many children at Southpointe Community Church, we are now asking that all parents serve in SPKids during one service, one Sunday a month. If you have one child, then one parent is asked to serve. If you have two or more children, then both parents are asked to serve. We have chosen this system out of a desire to value children the same way that Jesus did and live out our vision of each child being known and loved. Additionally, time served in an SPKids classroom can help us appreciate how our children are being taught and cared for.
Along with parent volunteers, we also welcome anyone else who has a heart to serve our children and their parents.
Please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form with your preferences about when and where you’d like to serve, as well as the Background Check form. After your forms are completed, you will the receive a copy of our Volunteer Handbook and an email from Planning Center – the online tool that we use for scheduling.
So many of you have been faithfully serving for years and we are honored by your consistency and willingness to shepherd the hearts of our children. THANK YOU!
