Father your word says that you delight in us,
yet we know the fullness of our own sin and struggle to believe.

Your word says that you delight in showing mercy to your children,
yet we often believe the lie that we are unlovable.

Thank you that even in our unbelief, your love never fails.

For the times that we reject that love and instead turn to our own desires and selfish pursuits,
have mercy on us.

For the times when we live our lives to increase our glory and our reputation instead of yours,
forgive us.

For the ways that we focus so deeply on ourselves that we do not consider then needs of others,
grant us your grace.

For the ease with which we turn to worldly enticements for peace and comfort instead of turning to you, oh prince of peace,
show us your compassion.

For our failures to love our families with sacrificial love and instead use them to make our lives work,
show us your love.

We turn from these things, look to you, and stand in the kindness of your mercy.
